The river, although beautiful and the source of amazing amounts of fun, is
not your friend. It demands respect, and if you don't supply it,
sooner or later the river will demonstrate for your edification the fact
that it's immensely powerful and cares not a whit for your well-being.
This area of my site is dedicated to safety resources- links to organizations that provide safety training and instruction, to other sites and discussion groups you can use to educate yourself on safety and rescue techniques and methods. I highly encourage you to seek rescue/medical training to prepare yourself for whatever adventures life and boating have in store for you. For now, because this site serves mainly paddlers in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, I have chosen to limit many of the training resource links to trainers that are in the Pacific Northwest- but if you have any recommendations to make for training programs in your area, please contact me and I'll link them. |
