Tyler Durden says, "Eat Corn Dogs"
Sometimes a picture can make a big drop look bigger than it is.

As you may have noticed, paddlers can be a strange lot, and then there are paddlers with websites about paddling... hooboy.  Hunter S. Thompson once said that there's nothing quite so depraved as a man in the depths of an ether binge, but I'm guessing he hasn't tried talking to the hopelessly addicted kayaker- and I'm worse than most.

This page is a place I hope to develop into one of the best online repositories of free information on paddle technique, stories about paddling, and paddling resources for Washington State.  Be sure to take a look into the articles, stories, safety, and weather areas.

The above waterfall is on the South Fork of the Snoqualmie river in Washington, and when this picture was taken it was unclear whether anyone had done it before.  The waterfall itself is man-made, as the river has been artificially channelized just next to the westbound lanes of I-90 as you approach North Bend, WA.  The drop itself is pretty clearly 'engineered' to allow the highway to go where it does- essentially, the DOT must have created an artificial box canyon with a waterfall entering it, specifically to protect the highway.

Anyhow, I'd been looking at it for a while when Jock (who knew I'd been looking) gave me a call and said he and a few other folks were rolling into town, did I want to come and play?  Needless to say, I did and it was f-u-n FUN.

So afterward, while I was thinking about possible names for it, (names like 'box drop' or 'box lunch') I asked around to see if anyone had a prior name, and word came back:  it *had* been run, the guy who did it injured his wrist on the landing, and his buddies had named it 'Limp Wrist Falls' in his honor.  I was aghast!  What an un-inspiring name!  I cajoled. I wheedled.  I tried to suggest that 'box lunch' would be a much better name, but to no avail.  So there you have it folks... a shot of me running mighty 'limp wrist falls'.

My buddy Nick then converted the picture into an amusing ad, perhaps because I neglected to invite him along to run it.   I appear to have been subsequently dubbed 'Corn Dog'. :-)
